Over a half century ago, back in 1944, the United States Federal Government passed the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act. This act contained many benefits for the servicemen returning from duty. Within this law, the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) guarantees the insurance on the loans issued by approved VA lenders on homes, farms and businesses. Since that time, there have been over 20 million VA loans guaranteed in the United States. The VA loan program has never been more popular due to the lenient and powerful features of the loan. Beginning in 2009, Banks have tightened guidelines and restricted high Loan to Value (LTV) financing. However, the VA has remained lenient, practical and generous to our country's servicemembers and veterans. Whether in active duty or a veteran, if you’re considering buying a home
or refinancing an existing mortgage, you owe it to yourself to consider a VA loan.
